DMS Students Score High on Math Exam

Three Dorseyville Middle School (DMS) students recently scored high on the American Mathematics Contest (AMC) 8 exam. Eighth grader Rajeev Godse was the highest scorer from DMS. He also scored in the top one percent of the country. Additionally, seventh grader Harry Chen placed second at DMS and eighth grader Noah Hertzman placed third. Overall, the school had 19 students take the test and DMS was recognized with a certificate of merit for outstanding proficiency for having a team score of over 50.

The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 is part of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) American Mathematics Competitions. Students from U.S. and international schools compete for school, regional, and national awards in this contest.
