DMS Choirs Win Awards

The Dorseyville Middle School (DMS) Girls Chamber Chorus and the DMS FoxTones performed both independently and together as the DMS Mixed Choir at a Music in the Parks Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Mixed Choir took first place and was ranked “Superior,” the highest rating possible. The group was also awarded the Overall Best Jr. High/Middle School Choral Award. The DMS Girls Chamber Chorus also placed first and earned a “Superior” rating. The DMS FoxTones earned a first place and a rating of “Excellent” (the second highest rating). The Music in the Parks Festival was held May 13 and 14, 2016, at Hershey Park and the groups competed against students from New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The Dorseyville Middle School Girls Chamber Chorus includes 55 girls in sixth through eighth grades; the FoxTones includes 20 boys in grades six through eight; and the Mixed Choir (made up of the Girls Chamber Chorus and the FoxTones) includes 75 boys and girls in grades six through eight. The choirs are under the direction of teacher Amy Beresik.
