DMS Students Score High on Math Exam
Three Dorseyville Middle School (DMS) students recently scored high on the American Mathematics Contest (AMC) 8 exam. Eighth grader Harry Chen placed first at DMS and scored in the top five percent nationally. Additionally, eighth grader Mark Puthenpurayil placed second at DMS and was also in the top five percent nationally. Seventh grader Nathaniel Mueller was the third place winner at DMS.
The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 is part of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) American Mathematics Competitions. Students from U.S. and international schools compete for school, regional, and national awards in this contest.
