Students Collecting Items for Center for Victims
The Fox Chapel Area High School Student Government Community Outreach Committee is holding two drives to collect items for the Center for Victims.
The committee is collecting new and gently used women’s and children’s pajamas of all sizes. The drive will be held March 25-April 8, 2016, and the pajamas will be distributed to those housed in the Center for Victim’s shelter. Students will also be permitted to wear PJs to school April 8 to show support for the center’s efforts. Students wearing PJs will be encouraged to donate a pair of pajamas or $1 to the Center for Victims.
The community outreach committee will also be collecting items for “comfort bags” April 4-15. The Center for Victims works year round in the court system, including juvenile court. Days in court can be long for children in these circumstances. Items for comfort bags can include packaged snacks, coloring books, crayons, water, and juice. Items for comfort bags will be put together and distributed to children and victim’s families.
The public is also encouraged to donate items for both of these drives by dropping them off in the Fox Chapel Area High School office Monday-Friday between 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Fox Chapel Area High School is located at 611 Field Club Road in O’Hara Township.
The Center for Victims is located in Pittsburgh and specializes in the support and care for victims and witnesses of crime, their families, and other significant people in their lives.
