Battle Bot Team Excels at Regional Preliminary Competition

A team of Fox Chapel Area High School students recently won second place at the Southwestern Pennsylvania BotsIQ Preliminary Competition and qualified for the state competition. Fox Chapel Area High School’s robot, “La Venganza del Diablo,” won all of its battles in the winner’s bracket and advanced to the finals. In the finals, the team finished second and qualified for the PA State BotsIQ competition. Team members include seniors Joseph Klaas, Brian Koglin, Dylan Lion, Jacob Pilarski, Darrien Thomas, and Andrew Wirkowski and juniors Thomas McFadden, Christopher Snider, Andrew Sobek, Amanda Trusiak, and Skylor Wright.

The preliminary competition was held at Butler County Community College March 10, 2016. The Pennsylvania BotsIQ state competition will be held on April 8 and 9 at California University of Pennsylvania.

BotsIQ is an educational robotics competition for high school age students. It provides students with a unique, hands-on experience that allows them to discover the possibilities of a career in the manufacturing sector, and other science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) fields.
