High School Students Place at UVA Model UN Conference

Seven Fox Chapel Area High School students won awards at the 26th Annual University of Virginia Model United Nations (UN) Conference. Sophomore Diana Crookston won an honorable mention (equivalent to third place). Additionally, seniors Omar Abdalla, Lee Beasley, and David Han; juniors Emilia Bianchini and Bridget Wang; and sophomore Tristan McClelland all won verbal recognitions (equivalent to fourth place).

More than 1,000 students from 53 schools across the eastern United States participated in the University of Virginia Model UN Conference. The conference was held November 18-20, 2016, at the University of Virginia.

The purpose of the Model UN conferences is to enable students to role play and simulate the countries in the United Nations. As a part of the conferences, students debate and try to solve global problems from the perspectives of other countries.
