Senior Featured in Fortune's 18 Under 18

Fox Chapel Area High School senior Mihir Garimella was recently named one of Fortune’s 18 Under 18. All of the teens on the list are considered the “most innovative and ambitious teens under 18 years old.” According to Fortune, these are “young innovators who are changing the world.”

Mihir was listed at number 4 and was chosen for his creation of the Firefly. Firefly is a low-cost, intelligent drone that can be used by first-responders to enable them to explore dangerous environments to find people who are trapped. In the article, finishing the sentence “In 20 years I will be…,” Mihir said, “Leading ambitious, high-impact research projects and trying to bring them to the market. My future is still pretty open, and I’m not sure exactly what I’ll work on, but I do know that I want to use computer science and robotics to make a difference.”

The concept was modeled after Fortune’s annual 40 under 40 list. The list featured 18 of the best and the brightest teenagers under the age of 18 from across the nation.
