High School Battle Bot Team Excels at Regional Preliminary Competition

A team of Fox Chapel Area High School students recently won third place at the Southwestern Pennsylvania (SWPA) BotsIQ Preliminary Competition and qualified for the state competition. Team members include seniors Brian King, Thomas McFadden, Juliette Naugle, Riley Perchinsky, Christopher Snider, Andrew Sobek, Amanda Trusiak, and Skylor Wright; juniors Thomas Penland and Maximillion Polster; and sophomores Matthew Hopkins, Alaina Kotchey, and Brian Mulhern.

The preliminary competition was held at Butler County Community College March 9, 2017. The Pennsylvania State BotsIQ Competition will be held April 27-29 at California University of Pennsylvania.

BotsIQ is an educational robotics competition for high school students. It provides students with a unique, hands-on experience that allows them to discover the possibilities of a career in the manufacturing sector, and other science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) fields.
