Students Place in German Day Competition

Five Fox Chapel Area High School students recently placed in the annual Three Rivers German Day Competition. In the fictional writing category, junior Bridget Shelestak won first place, junior Anna Paviglianiti won second place, and sophomore Courtney Kennedy was awarded third place. Freshman Alyssa Mattheis won second place for her painting, and junior Emma Francioni won second place for her drawing.

The Three Rivers German Day Competition was open to middle school and high school students from across western Pennsylvania and West Virginia and was held March 16, 2017, at Washington & Jefferson College. More than 400 students participate in the event each year which is sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG).
