Juniors Diana Crookston and Grace Stasolla, sophomore Rajeev Godse, and freshmen Anthony Nguyen and Jackson Romero all won honorable mentions (equivalent to third place).

More than 1,000 students from 49 high schools across the eastern United States participated in the University of Virginia Model UN Conference. The conference was held November 17-29, 2017, at the University of Virginia.

The purpose of the Model UN conferences is to enable students to role play and simulate the countries in the United Nations. As a part of the conferences, students debate and try to solve global problems from the perspectives of other countries.
