Fox Chapel Area High School students will vie for a top prize of $500 in the “Fox Chapel’s Got Talent” show at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, in the Fox Chapel Area High School (FCAHS) auditorium. The show is open to the public.

Fox Chapel’s Got Talent follows the format of the reality television series, “America’s Got Talent.” Contestants will perform on stage and a panel of three judges will critique each act. Judges will include Bryan Cole, recording artist, producer, and songwriter; vocalist Betty Rich; and a surprise Fox Chapel Area High School student judge. Following the 15 acts with 18 students performing, the judges will choose three winning acts. First prize is $500, second prize is $300, and third prize is $100.

Audience raffle prizes will also be drawn that include tickets to the FCAHS 2018 Prom, the FCAHS 2018 Homecoming, and a temporary FCAHS Student Parking Pass (rules apply), as well as gift cards from the show’s community supporters such as Walnut Grill, Hartwood Restaurant, Chili’s, Aspinwall Beans & Cream, Tai Pei Restaurant, Eat’n Park, and Zoup!  Two four-hour recording session certificates to Tonic Recording Studio will also be raffled.

Acts performed by FCAHS students will include a vocal duet, an instrumental & vocal ensemble, vocal & guitar or piano performances, solo singers, and two magic routines. Songs include several original compositions; well-known pieces such as “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, “Prelude/Angry Young Man” by Billy Joel, “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men, and “When I Look at You” by Miley Cyrus; as well as musical show pieces such as “Burn” from Hamilton by Lin Manuel Miranda, and “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman” and “Before It’s Over” from “Dogfish,” both by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.  Watch carefully, and don’t miss the “Sleight and Fate” and “Nail in the Bag” magic acts.

Tickets will be sold at the door and the cost is $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Fox Chapel Area High School is located at 611 Field Club Road in O’Hara Township.
