Students Win Honorable Mentions in Shakespeare Contest

Three Fox Chapel Area School District students recently received honorable mentions as part of the 24th Annual Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest. Fox Chapel Area High School sophomore Karl Pil and Dorseyville Middle School eighth graders Zoe Lakkis and Lance Wilhelm all received honorable mentions in the Upper Division Monologues category. Karl performed as Henry in a scene from “King Henry V.” Zoe portrayed Helena in a scene from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Lance performed as Cassius in a scene from “Julius Caesar.”

The contest was held in February 2018 at the Pittsburgh Public Theater. Over 10 days, the students performed monologues and/or scenes from the works of William Shakespeare. More than 1,000 students from 90 schools from across the greater Pittsburgh area participated.
