Student Magazine Wins First Place National Award

Fox Chapel Area High School's 2013-2014 literary arts magazine "Tapestry" has been named a first place winner in the 2014 American Scholastic Press Association's Annual Contest/Review for Scholastic Yearbooks, Magazines and Newspapers. "Tapestry" won first place in the magazine portion of the competition. Additionally, the magazine also received a Special Category Magazine Award and was one of only ten magazines from across the nation to be named among the "Most Outstanding High School Literary-Art Magazines for 2014."

The 2013-2014 senior staff members of "Tapestry" were 2014 graduates Marisa Acevedo, Danielle Burton, Emily Katz, Juliet Millard, Adlai Nelson, Habiba Shalaby, and McKenna Trimble; current 2014-2015 seniors Emily Fabiszewski, Faith Kim, Jaagrit Randhawa, Sarah Ssemakula, and Rachel Stein; and current 2014-2015 juniors Maria Burns, Christopher Esch, Emma Lloyd, Stephen Polcyn, Sophie Rodosky, and Bailey Yousem. The students' advisor is Fox Chapel Area High School language arts teacher Jessica Green.

The American Scholastic Press Association's contest is open to students from middle schools, high schools, and colleges from across the United States. Entries include magazines, newspapers, and yearbooks and are judged on page design, story layout, graphics, headlining, cover design, and photography.
