1:1 Project-Based & Blended Learning
Technology has reshaped the way we work, learn, and play as well as redefined our social spaces and interactions. The Fox Chapel Area School District recognizes these advancements and desires to leverage the potential mobile learning devices bring to teaching and learning. These technologies further our mission to enable students to maximize their learning, achievement, and development. By providing iPads to our students, we enable equity of access to content, people, and resources in an atmosphere that both engages and inspires. In a connected world, learning becomes a continuous process that occurs anytime and anyplace; it is not limited by time and space. Students can utilize the iPads to not only consume information, but also produce high-quality, multimedia-rich content in a project-based environment that supports communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
This project seeks to transform the industrial model of instruction to best meet the needs of the 21st century learner as well as collegiate and workplace expectations. Project-based learning (PBL) provides an avenue of inquiry, discovery, connected curriculum, and content production. The learning environment is no longer taught in discrete, isolated subject areas nor constrained by time and space; learning is connected and occurs anytime, anyplace. The iPads help fully recognize this vision of PBL where students are engaged with and inspired by the learning.
