Math Pentathlon Sign Up
What is Math Pentathlon? It is a non-competitive after school program where students play games that reinforce math concepts. It is fun, stimulating, and educational. The seven-week program culminates with a Game Day March 4th at Dorseyville Middle School where participants play the games against students from the other elementary schools in the Fox Chapel Area School District. Each participant will receive a Math Pentathlon t-shirt and a medal for participating in the program.
Math Pentathlon is held on Thursdays at Kerr at the end of the school day. Students are dismissed by division to a game room for a snack & drink (included in the program fee) before learning and playing their respective games. Each division learns and plays three different games. The students play each game for two weeks then have one week for review of all three games before game day. Each division is dismissed at 5:00pm.
Division I - Kindergarten and 1st Grades, led by parent volunteer Monica Gay
Games are: Hex-a-Gone, Kings & Quads, Shape Up
Division II – 2nd and 3rd Grades, led by parent volunteers Kelly Cannon & Sarah Jacobs

• February 2 & 9: game #2

Parent volunteers are needed in all three divisions to learn the games and help the children play them as well as for Game Day. This is volunteer-run program and parental support is vital to its success. As per Fox Chapel Area School District policy, clearances are required for all parent volunteers.
